PGI TUSCAN OIL
That's what makes a difference, especially when dealing with oil and flagship Tuscan products, some of the most imitated worldwide, as revealed in the first report into food and farming fakes drawn up by Coldiretti (the Italian confederation of direct cultivators) and Eurispes (the Italian institute into political, economic and social studies).
Tuscan oil is one of the top five most falsified products. "If you pay little for a litre of oil, something is not right," says Fabrizio Filippi, President of the Consortium for the Protection of PGI Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil. Thankfully, Tuscany offers a vast range on the market, including some top products that are famous all over the world: Lucca PDO, Chianti Classico, l Terre di Siena and, indeed, Tuscan PGI.
"Tuscany is a fantastic land because of its environment and unique microclimates," Filippi concludes. "Good oil, quality oil can only be imitated through advertising and catchy branding, but not in terms of its content."

For 2011 the prestigious American "Wine Enthusiast Magazine" chose Nipozzano Riserva 2007 by Marchesi di Frescobaldi as the wine of the year.
Food traditions love to follow in the footsteps of young Tuscan chefs. In this case, the chef actually has a name. We're talking about Paolo Fiaschi, owner of 'Papaveri Papere' restaurant in San Miniato.
He has paraded his total look around the world, from Dubai to Shanghai to the sumptuous Moscow show some time ago, but without ever forgetting his beloved Tuscany.
